About the Role:

Gippsland Veterinary Hospital in Maffra is seeking a Large Animal Technician to support our on-farm services, particularly calf disbudding, and equipment maintenance.

This is a casual position with seasonal work available throughout the year.

You’ll be working closely with veterinarians and supporting operations across our large animal services. Duties include:

  • On-farm disbudding of calves
  • Teat sealing cows
  • Cleaning and maintenance of veterinary equipment
  • Adhering to biosecurity, WHS, and company policies

Training is available for the right candidate- a great attitude and animal handling skills are the most important component of this position.

Hours:
Typically between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM, depending on job bookings.

Location:
Gippsland Veterinary Hospital – 10 Johnson Street, Maffra, VIC 3860

What We’re Looking For:

  • Excellent cattle handling skills (essential)
  • Experience with disbudding (highly desirable)
  • Horse handling skills (advantageous)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Species Mix:

  • Cattle: 90%
  • Horses: 10% (potential for more depending on candidate experience)
