Vaccine Production Technical Officer

Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Vaccine Production Technical Officer to join our Vaccine team at ACE Laboratory Services (ACE).  As a Vaccine Production Technical Officer at ACE the successful applicant will be part of a team that manufactures a wide range of bacterial vaccines, as well as taking part in related QA and R&D activities; this is a hands-on role that would require the technical officer to be involved in all areas of the vaccine manufacturing.   Previous experience in vaccine production and the animal health industry would be advantageous.

As an accredited laboratory all staff are required to work together to ensure that the laboratory operates at a high standard by following established standard operating procedures for testing and equipment maintenance, as well as performing and monitoring quality control procedures. The successful applicant would be required to contribute during audits. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Antigen Production and vaccine manufacturing.
  • Maintain production records.
  • Maintain stocks of vaccine consumables
  • Maintain stocks of microbiological media
  • Maintain production equipment in a clean serviceable condition
  • Decontaminate the clean rooms and equipment on a regular basis and maintain the facility as a safe working environment
  • Aid in the Organization of vaccine manufacturing schedules.
  • Aid in documentation preparation and review
  • Actively participate in closing out CACAs
  • Maintain OH&S policies and procedures for a safe work environment.
  • Be available to participate in APVMA audits
  • assist in training colleagues to maintain consistent processes 
  • Perform the duties of other positions in ACE Laboratory Services when required.

Beneficial Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree or diploma in Applied Science or a tertiary qualification with substantial relevant experience, or completion of a certificate III or IV in laboratory skills / techniques with a minimum 3 years of practical experience 
  • Demonstrated experience in fermentation and vaccine production processes within a cGMP environment.
  • Broad awareness of GMP regulations, NATA standards
  • Problem solving capabilities
  • Advanced Computer Skills.
  • Good written and verbal Communication skills
  • Experience working in a veterinary focused laboratory.
  • Demonstrated experience in bacteriology techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practice of laboratory safety and sterile techniques
  • Valid Australian Drivers licence
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel Applications would be an advantage

Position Specific Requirements

  • This position has a requirement to work shift work or out of hours and will involve evening or weekend work
